Thy faith hath made thee whole.

Luke 8 and we’re going to be looking at verses 43-48.

“And a woman having an issue of bleeding twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of bleeding stopped. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude have crowded and pressed against thee, and say thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”

This woman was in need of healing.   She had spent all of her living, every last penny, on doctors in hopes that they would heal her to no avail.  So she went to Jesus in hopes that he would heal her and pushed through the crown to touch his garment.   And when she did, she was healed immediately.  And Jesus said “Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace”

What does it mean to believe in Jesus?  It means to have faith.  Faith in the only true God and Jesus Christ whom he hath sent.  Jesus said “thy faith hath made thee whole” and Hebrews 11:6 says “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that come to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

This woman spent all that she had in hopes that she would be healed, but no Physician could heal her.  So when she turned to Jesus, he was her only hope.  Hebrews 1:1 says “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” The definition of substance refers to the essential nature: essence of.  Christ is the substance of what we hope for.  This woman had faith that Jesus would heal her and he did.  He healed her immediately and completely.  “Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace”   “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
