Thou have left thy first love.

There’s a lot of talk of the end times theses days.  Today we’re going to take a look at Revelation chapter 2:1-7 and what the Spirit says to the church of Ephesus.

Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things say he that hold the seven stars in his right hand, who walk in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; I know thy works, and thy labor, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast born, and have patience, and for my name's sake have labored, and have not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.  But this thou has, that thou hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcome will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Is Jesus your first love?  What has he commanded us that we are to do ...

• IF ye continue in my word, you will be my disciples indeed and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free.

• He that has my commandments, and keep them, he it is that love me: and he that love me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

• If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Look at the promises attached to his commandments ...

• you will be my disciples indeed and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free.

• and he that love me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

• ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Are you continuing in Jesus words, his teaching?  Are you abiding in Christ and his Words in you?  Or have you left your first love?  If the later is true, then the way back is simple.  Repent.  Acknowledge that you’ve strayed from the Lord your savior and simply return to him  in his Word.
