The turning Point

Romans 7 & 8

Yesterday we looked at John 5:24 where Jesus says:  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hear my word, and believe on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Today I thought we could take a look at the promise of “and shall not come into condemnation”.

Condemn = to pronounce guilty : CONVICT

Jesus said in John 8:34-35  “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commit sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abide not in the house for ever: but the Son abide ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

This is good news to those who see that they have a Sin problem.  The apostle Paul is wrestling with his sin problem in Romans 7, he says “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwell no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwell in me.”

How about you?  Can you relate to this struggle?  If the answer is “no” that freedom and deliverance and forgiveness of Sin has no real meaning to you.  But, if the answer is “yes, yes I can relate to this struggle within me” then Paul’s final cry has great meaning to you.   He says “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”  WHO, not what.  He is crying out to be rescued, saved, delivered by who?   “I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

This IS the turning point.  Isaiah 6:10 says “Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes,  and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.”    The turning point happens only when by the grace of God he gives us eyes to see that we are sinners in desperate need of a Savior.

When we see that we are guilty and we already stand condemned.  “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Repentance is the turning point and all of heaven is waiting to rejoice over one sinner who repents more than over 99 just persons who need no repentance.

Has God by his amazing grace given you eyes to see his great love for you?  “But God commend his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”  Romans 5:8     If yes, then there is NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  The enemy, the accuser will try to accuse you but its all lies.

“Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” and “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

Hallelujah!  What a Savior.
