Beware of the anti Christ

1 John 2:18-23

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.  Who is a liar but he that deny that Jesus is the Christ?  He is antichrist, that deny the Father and the Son. Whosoever deny the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledge the Son hath the Father also.

That antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists.  Anti means one that is opposed : against.  Anti CHRIST.

• verse 18 says “They went out from us” — the anti Christs come out of the church. “But they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us”. They may sound like they’re for Christ but they’re really against him.  They do not continue in the Word, as Jesus said, and the truth is not in them.

But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

Unction in the dictionary says the act of anointing as a rite of consecration or healing.

• We have an unction from the Holy One, an anointing.  Those that have believed on Jesus as Lord are chosen — as Jesus said, you have not chosen me but I have chosen you.   We are chosen vessels sanctified and made ready for the Masters use.

I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

• What is the sign of a true disciple of Jesus Christ?  Jesus said it:  if you continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.  If I say I know Jesus, then I will know his words, his commandments, his teaching.   HE IS the way the truth and the life.

Who is a liar but he that deny that Jesus is the Christ? To believe on Jesus means to believe Jesus is the CHRIST, the Savior, the Messiah.  Behold the lamb of God that take away the Sin of the World.  It doesn’t say here to those that deny Jesus ... he that deny that Jesus is the Christ.

• When Jesus asked his disciples in Matthew 16:16-17 “But whom say ye that I am? “  “Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.   And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”

He is antichrist, that deny the Father and the Son. Whosoever deny the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledge the Son hath the Father also.   To deny Jesus is the Christ is to deny the father.

• God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son to be a sin offering.  God the father paid the ultimate price for our sin, he provided his only begotten son to be the sin offering, the perfect lamb of God who take away the sin of the world.   You cannot deny the Son without denying the father.  If you deny Jesus then you deny the only true God and Jesus Christ whom he hath sent.

• In John 14:8-11 “Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it suffice us.  Jesus said unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how say thou then, Show us the Father?  Believes thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwell in me, he do the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.”

• God the Father sent his only begotten son to be a sin offering and the Son so loved the father that he went to the cross out of obedience to him. “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:6-8

This is the doctrine of Christ.  The teaching of the Gospel.
